# ECHO Proxy

> ECHO Proxy is a free, community-maintained directory of working Telegram MTProto and SOCKS5 proxies. The service helps users in regions where Telegram is restricted (Iran, Iraq, Russia, China, Turkmenistan, Belarus, and others) connect to Telegram by providing a constantly tested list of public proxy servers. All proxies are checked automatically every few minutes and dead servers are removed. The site is free, requires no registration, has no ads inside Telegram, and supports five languages: English, Arabic, Persian (Farsi), Russian, and Chinese.

The site is split into two parts: a static frontend at `https://telegramvpn.org` (multilingual HTML pages, vanilla JavaScript, no framework) and a JSON API at `https://api.telegramvpn.org` (single-file PHP, KVrocks Redis-compatible storage, edge-cached via Cloudflare). Users browse proxies by country, type (MTProto or SOCKS5), latency, or uptime, then connect with a single tap that opens the Telegram app via a `tg://proxy?...` deep link. New proxies can be submitted by anyone via the `/submit` page (Cloudflare Turnstile captcha + rate limiting prevent abuse).

Telegram is end-to-end encrypted, so a proxy server cannot read messages or steal accounts — it only relays already-encrypted packets. ECHO Proxy is intended for users who want to bypass network-level blocks while keeping their existing Telegram account. It is not a VPN: it routes only Telegram traffic, which means lower battery usage and faster connection than a full-tunnel VPN.
